RIDE program uncovers stolen goods

Officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) noticed stolen goods in a trailer while they were conducting a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program at the intersection of Marysville Road and Waddingham Road in Tyendinaga Township.

At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jul. 08, 2021 a vehicle towing a trailer with an insecure load and improperly attached licence plate approached the checkpoint and was stopped. According to a release from OPP, officers observed stolen property in the trailer and placed the three occupants of the vehicle under arrest.  

As part of the ongoing investigation, police seized a significant quantity of copper wiring and a stolen licence plate.

As a result of the investigation, Scott Drader (52 yrs), Robert Pakul (49 yrs), both of Greater Napanee and Douglas Wood (32 yrs) of Belleville have been charged with:

  • Two counts of Possession of Property obtained by Crime

Douglas Wood is additionally charged with:

  • Fail to comply with Probation.

All accused were released on an Appearance Notice and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee in September, 2021.
