Local man facing charges after search warrant executed in Prescott

A local man is among the six individuals who are facing charges due to a drug trafficking investigation in the town of Prescott.

In the fall of 2021, the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began a drug trafficking investigation in Prescott, according to a release from the OPP.

As a result of the investigation, shortly after 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022, the CSCU executed a search warrant at a residence on Boundary Street, in the town of Prescott. According to the release, the CSCU was assisted by members from the OPP East Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and uniform members of the Grenville County OPP Detachment.

Police located and seized multiple substances including psilocybin, MDMA, non-prescribed medication, and various forms of cocaine, according to the release. Police also seized digital scales, a quantity of cash, firearm ammunition and a 12-gauge shotgun.

As a result of the investigation, the following people were arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, and one count of possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking:

  • Alexander Ubdegrove, 27 years of age, of Kingston, Ontario.
  • Cassandra Richards, 28 years of age, of Brockville, Ontario.
  • Chad Dimaria, 39 years of age, of Augusta Township, Ontario.

James Moore, 36 years of age, of Prescott, Ontario, was also charged with two counts of careless storage of a firearm; unauthorized possession of a firearm; and knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Curtis Visser, 33 years of age, of Prescott, Ontario, was also charged with another count of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking; possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for dangerous purpose; possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000; and three counts of fail to comply with Probation Order.

Chelsea Swinwood, 33 years of age of Prescott, Ontario, was charged with two counts of careless storage of a firearm; unauthorized possession of a firearm; knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm.
