BGC South East opens new east-end party space

A new birthday party option is coming to Kingston’s east end, with the launch of BGC South East’s East End birthday party packages.

Beginning Friday, May 3, 2024, Jungle Gym themed parties will be offered for area families, with the space also available for businesses, local teams, and more, according to a media release from BGC South East. The party packages are for the new space at BGC’s East End location at 695 Innovation Drive.

Jungle Gym Birthday Parties are “tailor-made” for kids aged 12 and under who love climbing, crawling, jumping, and balancing, BGC stated.

In the release, Sydney Cordeiro, Manager of Social Enterprises and Weekend Programming at BGC South East, shared her excitement, saying, “We’re thrilled to kick off with Jungle Gym Birthday Parties at our East End location. With this exciting new opportunity, families can celebrate their little ones’ birthdays in a fun and active environment. Our Jungle Gym Birthday Parties provide a unique experience that children and parents alike will cherish.”

The East End party space features a large play structure where kids can unleash their energy. Birthday parties are two-hour events and include 15 playing guests, according to BGC. The spring schedule for May 3 to June 23 is now available for booking, and the summer schedule will be released soon.

“These birthday parties/events fall under our non-profit operating model,” Amanda Guarino, Director of Resource Development and Communications at BGC South East told Kingstonist in an email.

“All proceeds go into our child and youth programs. The spring parties revenue will be specifically channelled towards our summer programs this year, and provide subsidies for families that cannot afford camp fees. We are trying to raise $125,000 during our spring campaign to send 500 local kids to camp this year.”

Kingstonist asked BGC to provide more details on the space available for businesses and teams to hold events. In response, Guarino explained that the jungle gym space has a floor space with capacity for 15 to 20 people that can be set up with tables and chairs as a meeting room.

“The climber can be used during this time if any of the adults bring along their kids to play (while they meet!)” she added.

  • Sundays (May 12, June 2nd & 16th): 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., 1 to 3 p.m., 4 to 6 p.m.
• No Parties on the following holiday dates: May 17, 18 & 19 ; and June 28, 29 and 30

Additional Information for Guests:

• Please remember to bring any plates, cups, cutlery, and decorations for the party room, such as tablecloths and banners. Outside food is permitted, but we kindly request that it be peanut and tree nut-free.
• Please note that we do not have a fridge or freezer available for use. If you opt for an ice cream cake, please plan accordingly.
• Helium balloons are not permitted in this location.
• Guests are welcome to arrive up to 15 minutes before the party begins to set up and decorate.
