The #ygkChallenge is an ongoing series where we dare you to be different, resolve to be better, and or do something awesome in support of our beloved community. Each week, Kingstonist establishes a new, ambitious or quirky goal, encouraging you to step out of your comfort zone and do something great, and hopefully a little out of the ordinary. By taking part in this community-wide initiative, we hope to make Kingston (and the world) a slightly better place to live, work and play.
This week’s #ygkChallenge encourages you to:
Volunteer to Serve on a Committee. Kingston is a thriving community, thanks in part to the tireless efforts of unsung heroes serving on numerous boards and committees that help shape policy and programs. Currently, the City of Kingston is seeking eight talented individuals to assume positions with Heritage Kingston (7) as well as the Housing and Homelessness Advisory Committee (1). In light of ongoing conversations regarding condo height, preserving our downtown, and the need for affordable housing, what better than now to throw your hat in the ring to help maneuver these key issues. Newcomers with permanent resident status and who have lived in Kingston for at least a year are welcome to apply to volunteer on a committee! Lend your knowledge, skills and expertise to one of these committees, and help strengthen our community. Deadline to apply online this lot of positions is February 5th at 4:30 p.m.
Join us in completing this week’s #ygkchallenge by liking it on Facebook and/or re-Tweeting it on Twitter. By liking and sharing, you’re not only committing to doing something great, but you’re also helping us spread the word and hopefully encouraging others to participate.
