#ygkChallenge: Make a Thanksgiving Food Donation

Thanksgiving, Partners in Mission Foodbank, Kingston, OntarioThe #ygkChallenge is an ongoing series where we dare you to be different, resolve to be better, and or do something awesome in support of our beloved community. Each week, Kingstonist establishes a new, ambitious or quirky goal, encouraging you to step out of your comfort zone and do something great, and hopefully a little out of the ordinary. By taking part in this community-wide initiative, we hope to make Kingston (and the world) a slightly better place to live, work and play.

This week’s #ygkChallenge encourages you to:

Donate to the Food Bank. While it may pain you to think about Thanksgiving, let’s step back for a moment imagine what it would be like if we weren’t able put together a Thanksgiving dinner this year. Forget having to prepare a turkey, or whip up your family’s special stuffing, or finally baking the perfect pumpkin pie for all to enjoy. In fact, let’s go one step further and image that there’s absolutely nothing to replace Thanksgiving dinner with. This imaginative exercise is sadly the reality for many households within the local community, who rely heavily on donations made through the Partners in Mission Food Bank to ensure that their tables and cupboards are not empty on any given day of the year. As you look towards completing your Thanksgiving shopping in the coming weeks, grab a few extra special items and donate them to our local Food Bank so that someone in need can also have a memorable Thanksgiving dinner. Want to do more?  Why not donate a hamper to make a substantial contribution to a local family.

Join us in completing this week’s #ygkchallenge by liking it on Facebook and/or re-Tweeting it on Twitter. By liking and sharing, you’re not only committing to doing something great, but you’re also helping us spread the word and hopefully encouraging others to participate.
