#ygkChallenge: Remembrance Day
The #ygkchallenge is an ongoing series where we dare you to be different, resolve to be better, and or do something awesome in support of our beloved community. Each week, Kingstonist establishes a new, ambitious or quirky goal, encouraging you to step out of your comfort zone and do something great, and hopefully a little out of the ordinary. By taking part in this community-wide initiative, we hope to make Kingston (and the world) a slightly better place to live, work and play.
This week’s #ygkchallenge encourages you to:
Remember and give thanks. Tomorrow is Remembrance Day, a time for us to remember and give thanks to those who have made enormous sacrifices to ensure our freedom, safety and comfort. This week we encourage you to take the time not only to reflect on the courage and generosity of our veterans by attending a ceremony tomorrow, but also to take time to personally show our veterans your thanks. There are many ways to make a personal gesture to the people who made sacrifices for us. Apply to be a volunteer with Vets Canada, make a donation or organize a fundraising event for Veterans Emergency Transition Services, sign up for or support someone participating in an event aimed to raise funds and awareness such as Boots on the Ground and the Battlefield Bike Ride, or visit a legion and meet some of your local vets. Show the men and women who have fought for us that we care and truly appreciate them.
Join us in completing this week’s #ygkchallenge by liking it on Facebook and/or re-Tweeting it on Twitter. By liking and sharing, you’re not only committing to doing something great, but you’re also helping us spread the word and hopefully encouraging others to participate.
