#ygkChallenge: Recognize A Snow Angel

ygkchallenge, Snow Angel, Kingston, OntarioThe #ygkchallenge is an ongoing series where we dare you to be different, resolve to be better, and or do something awesome in support of our beloved community. Each week, Kingstonist establishes a new, ambitious or quirky goal, encouraging you to step out of your comfort zone and do something great, and hopefully a little out of the ordinary. By taking part in this community-wide initiative, we hope to make Kingston (and the world) a slightly better place to live, work and play.

This week’s #ygkchallenge encourages you to:

Recognize a Snow Angel. This winter has been no slouch in the snow department and it looks like there’s still more on the way. It always warms my heart to look out my window after a big snow fall to see neighbours clearing each other’s walks, cars and porches, and I’m happy to say that this happens often in my neighbourhood. This week, we challenge you to take a moment to recognize someone in your hood who has made winter a bit more bearable by lessening your snow clearing duties. Each year, the City of Kingston runs a program that salutes the modest, generous and unassuming Snow Angels who make other’s lives easier. Simply fill out the nomination form and a Snow Angel toque and a letter of appreciation will be sent to you to give to your kind neighbour. They will also be entered into a monthly draw. Entire families can be nominated as well as individuals. The program runs until the end of this month, so don’t wait to thank that someone who has helped get you out and about over the winter months.

Join us in completing this week’s #ygkchallenge by liking it on Facebook and/or re-Tweeting it on Twitter. By liking and sharing, you’re not only committing to doing something great, but you’re also helping us spread the word and hopefully encouraging others to participate.
