#ygkChallenge: Love Those Mos

ygk challenge, movember, mo bro, mo sista, prostate cancer, men's healthThe #ygkChallenge is an ongoing series where we dare you to be different, resolve to be better, and or do something awesome in support of our beloved community. Each week, Kingstonist establishes a new, ambitious or quirky goal, encouraging you to step out of your comfort zone and do something great, and hopefully a little out of the ordinary. By taking part in this community-wide initiative, we hope to make Kingston (and the world) a slightly better place to live, work and play.

This week’s #ygkChallenge encourages you to:

Support Movember, and love those Mos.  Over the past month, Kingston has been slowly taken over by men sporting lipholstery, whisker rugs, furry face furniture and so on.  These glorious mustaches are being painstakingly grown in support of the month-long Movember campaign to change the face of men’s health.  Donations made throughout November are directed to programs designed to combat prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health and physical inactivity. With prostate cancer being the most commonly diagnosed cancer amongst Canadian men, chances are you know someone who has been affected.  Further, you likely know a so-called Mo Bro or Mo Sista who are doing their part to raise funds.  With just over a week left in the 2015 Movember campaign, why not show some love to those Mos with a donation.  Donate directly to your friends sporting sweet Mos, or find them/donate (if they’ve registered) via the Movember Foundation’s site.

Join us in completing this week’s #ygkchallenge by liking it on Facebook and/or re-Tweeting it on Twitter. By liking and sharing, you’re not only committing to doing something great, but you’re also helping us spread the word and hopefully encouraging others to participate.

Thanks to Scott Akerman for today’s photo.
