#ygkChallenge: Lend a Helping Hand

ygkchallenge, helping hand, Kingston, OntarioThe #ygkchallenge is an ongoing series where we dare you to be different, resolve to be better, and or do something awesome in support of our beloved community. Each week, Kingstonist establishes a new, ambitious or quirky goal, encouraging you to step out of your comfort zone and do something great, and hopefully a little out of the ordinary. By taking part in this community-wide initiative, we hope to make Kingston (and the world) a slightly better place to live, work and play.

This week’s #ygkchallenge encourages you to:

Lend a helping hand. We get by with a little help from our friends. Truer words have never been spoken (or sung). Of course, the simple act of helping others can take so many forms. Whether that’s sharing valuable information, lending a sympathetic ear, loaning a tool or volunteering a little bit of time and elbow grease, it’s often appreciated more than we realize. In fact, that supposedly insignificant act of helpfulness may very well make a friend, family member or stranger’s day, and allow them to achieve something even greater in the long run.  Whether you choose to do “it” because it’s neighborly, long overdue, or simply seems like the right thing to do, you’ll be a better person for it, and so will the rest of us.  So what are you waiting for?  Share your time, your talent, your something to someone who will undoubtedly appreciate it.

Join us in completing this week’s #ygkchallenge by liking it on Facebook and/or re-Tweeting it on Twitter. By liking and sharing, you’re not only committing to doing something great, but you’re also helping us spread the word and hopefully encouraging others to participate.
