The #ygkchallenge is an ongoing series where we dare you to be different, resolve to be better, and or do something awesome in support of our beloved community. Each week, Kingstonist establishes a new, ambitious or quirky goal, encouraging you to step out of your comfort zone and do something great, and hopefully a little out of the ordinary. By taking part in this community-wide initiative, we hope to make Kingston (and the world) a slightly better place to live, work and play.
This week’s #ygkchallenge encourages you to:
Help Us Celebrate Kingstonist’s 10th Birthday! On March the 2nd, Kingstonist officially marks our 10th year of existence. That’s ten years of story telling. Ten years of reporting on stories that matter. Ten years of engaging leaders and personalities who are relevant to the Limestone City. It’s an entire decade of reflecting on what life in Kingston is all about.
Speaking as one of the co-founders, this enduring project has been one heck of a wild ride. Kingstonist has overcome relative obscurity, endured various technological challenges, and survived the comings and goings of dozens of awesome contributors who’ve shared their unique stories and perspectives over the years. Ten years in, and I’d like to think that we’re stronger and even more determined than ever to continue our mission to give the people of Kingston an exciting alternate source of independent news and entertainment. It’s more than a side project, or a product we’re trying to sell. It’s a labour of love, and we have a lot of people to thank for that.
Without you liking, sharing, commenting and reading, we would not be where or who we are today. So as we celebrate this most momentous milestone, please take some time to help us reach an even broader audience. Show us some love on Facebook, Twitter, and (now) Instagram. Help us share your talents and passions on Flickr, SoundCloud, and our Soapbox. Do us one more solid, and tell your friends about us. Chances are, they’ll tell two friends, and so on, and so….!
Here’s to Kingstonist’s 10th year. And here’s to another 10 years of limitless potential for us, our city and the people who make it such an awesome place to live, work and play.
Join us in completing this week’s #ygkchallenge by liking it on Facebook and/or re-Tweeting it on Twitter. By liking and sharing, you’re not only committing to doing something great, but you’re also helping us spread the word and hopefully encouraging others to participate.
