The #ygkChallenge is an ongoing series where we dare you to be different, resolve to be better, and or do something awesome in support of our beloved community. Each week, Kingstonist establishes a new, ambitious or quirky goal, encouraging you to step out of your comfort zone and do something great, and hopefully a little out of the ordinary. By taking part in this community-wide initiative, we hope to make Kingston (and the world) a slightly better place to live, work and play.
This week’s #ygkChallenge encourages you to:
Donate to a local Foodbank. As we begin to plan and look forward to traditional festive meals with all the trimmings, let’s pause and share the bounty so that those in need don’t have to go without this holiday season. Local foodbanks and community programs including Partners in Mission, Martha’s Table, Queen’s Food Centre and Lunch by George are ready and waiting to collect and distribute your much needed donations this December. Donating can be as easy as picking up an extra helping of your favourite meals, and depositing them in convenient collection bins located at your go-to grocery store. Alternatively, you can just as easily send most local food banks cash donations, so that funds are spent on items that are in demand. Looking to do even more? Why not get in touch with one of the aforementioned organizations and volunteer your time and talents over the holidays to help spread good cheer and nourishment to the local community.
Join us in completing this week’s #ygkchallenge by liking it on Facebook and/or re-Tweeting it on Twitter. By liking and sharing, you’re not only committing to doing something great, but you’re also helping us spread the word and hopefully encouraging others to participate.
