#ygkChallenge: Celebrate International Women’s Day
Welcome to Kingstonist’s weekly challenge, dare, resolution or whatever you prefer to call it. Each week we establish a new and ambitious community goal, encouraging our readers, followers, friends and families to step out of their comfort zones and do something great, and hopefully a little out of the ordinary. Consider this your official and personal invitation to join us in completing a small but meaningful achievement. By taking part in this community-wide initiative, we hope to make Kingston a slightly better place to live, work and play. And of course, we also hope that you will feel proud of your contribution and achievement.

Celebrate International Women’s Day! With more women in the boardroom, greater equality in legislative rights, and an increased critical mass of women’s visibility as impressive role models in every aspect of life, one could think that women have gained true equality. Even so, women are still not paid equally to that of their male counterparts, women still are not present in equal numbers in business or politics, and globally women’s education, health and the violence against them is worse than that of men. Annually on the 8th of March, thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate their achievements. Locally, this year’s International Women’s Day theme has been set as ‘women do piece‘. This week, I challenge you to participate in a local conference, event or do something out of the ordinary for the fantastic women in your life.
