A local man living with a family member, who was also acting as his surety, has been arrested and charged after he became verbally abusive, and eventually threatened to stab the family member with a knife, according to Kingston Police.

The accused man had been staying with the victim, a female family member, in central Kingston since being release on probation in January of this year. On Friday, Apr. 12, 2019, the accused man became verbally abusive with the victim. Although he eventually left the victim’s residence, the accused man refused to return the key to the victim’s apartment when she asked for it.

The following day, the victim returned to her apartment at approximately 3 p.m. after being out of the residence all day. She found that the accused man had returned to the apartment and was sleeping on her couch.

When the victim asked him to leave indicating he was no longer welcome, the accused man pulled out a knife and threatened to stab her with it. The victim fled the apartment and contacted police.

Responding officers arrived and the accused man was arrested at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Apr. 13, 2019. The 26-year-old Kingston man was charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats, and two counts of breach of probation.
