Provincial Internet Child Exploitation project leads to arrest of Kingston man

As a result of the ongoing province-wide project to detect and monitor file-sharing networks associated with child pornography, a local man has been arrested and charged.

The investigation into the accused man began on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018, when police downloaded a quantity of suspected child pornography files on a computer connected to a file-sharing network.

Then, on Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, police downloaded a further 100+ files of suspected child pornography connected to a file-sharing network.

The ensuing investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Kingston’s west end on Thursday, Feb. 21. 2019 at approximately 6:25 a.m. The examination of digital devices obtained in the search found evidence of files believed to meet the Criminal Code definition of child pornography.

The 39-year-old Kingston man was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of child pornography, two counts of accessing child pornography, and two counts of making child pornography available.
