Over the Thanksgiving long weekend, Kingston Police participated in #OperationImpact2022. Officers in the Kingston Police Traffic Safety Unit were on the roads all weekend, and in partnership with the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario, they also conducted a Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMV) safety initiative.

According to a release from Kingston Police, excessive speeding was a particular concern with speeds as high as 52 km/h over the posted limit on residential roads.

In total, 43 charges were laid for offences including excessive speeding, careless driving, driving without a licence, and driving with no insurance.

Kingston Police said that 15 Commercial motor vehicle level one safety inspections were completed, which resulted in four unsafe trucks being taken off the road, and five commercial drivers being issued 72-hour CMV driving suspensions.
