Law Enforcement Torch Run hitting the streets in Kingston

Don’t be alarmed if you see a larger law enforcement presence on the streets of Kingston this Friday – it’s all for a good cause.

On Friday, Jun. 22, 2018, members of the Kingston Police and the Kingston Police Community Volunteers will once again take to the streets for the Law Enforcement Torch Run to support Special Olympics. They will be joined by members of the Frontenac Ontario Provincial Police, the Canadian Military Police, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Correctional Services Canada, and the Canadian Border Services Agency.

Beginning at 11:30 a.m., the run will take participants from Kingston Police Headquarters north onto Division Street, then turn left onto First Canada Avenue before looping around onto Dalton Avenue. They will then turn right onto Division Street again, and return to the police station.

Participants will carry buckets to collect donations for Special Olympics.

“Members of our community are encouraged to show their support for Special Olympics by tossing change in the buckets,” Kingston Police said in press release.
