UPDATE: The investigation conducted by the Traffic Safety Unit found that the driver involved in the collision is not at fault, and therefore no charges will be laid, Kingston Police said on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019.
At the request of the family, the name of the deceased will not be released.

A 32-year-old woman has died after being struck by a vehicle on Princess Street on New Year’s Eve.
At approximately 7:10 P.M. Kingston Police, Kingston Fire & Rescue, and Frontenac Paramedics responded to the westbound stretch of Princess Street between Sir John A MacDonald Boulevard and Bath Road for a report of a female who had been struck by a vehicle.
According to witnesses, the female had attempted to cross Princess Street when she was struck by the vehicle. First responders found the victim with vital signs absent at the scene and she was transported to Kingston General Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
The investigation is ongoing. Kingston Police say that at this time they are unable to confirm whether criminal charges will be laid in the incident.
