Summer Plans in Kingston
With just over two weeks to go, schools will soon be a fading image in many people’s rear view mirrors. I certainly do not miss those endless days spent in the classroom at this time of year, trying to stay still, calm and focused during the home stretch. There was just so much to look forward to, from endless summers at the cottage, road trips to Canada’s Wonderland, summer sports, birthday parties and back to school shopping. Okay, maybe not the last one. While I don’t get a ton of time off during the summer, I’m still able to make the most of my days off. With many people in the process of hammering out their summer schedules, I thought that this week’s poll should measure your vacation plans. Please note you may select up to two options.
What are your summer vacation plans?
- A few weekend getaways and day trips. (45%, 72 Votes)
- Enjoying Kingston's attractions and festivals. (28%, 44 Votes)
- Lengthy vacation away from the Limestone City. (16%, 26 Votes)
- Something else entirely. (11%, 18 Votes)
Total Voters: 89

Over the past few years, the term staycation has been frequently used to describe affordable outings that involve local attractions. In Kingston, we’re lucky to have a lot of tried and true staycation options, including: Fort Henry, Movies in the Square, Buskers Rendezvous, Limestone City Blues Fest, Drive In, Skeleton Park Music Festival, Farmer’s Market, downtown patios and the list goes on. So what will you and your family be up to over the summer? Are you bogged down with commitments to traveling baseball and soccer teams? What’s the best local attraction you’d recommend during the coming months? Will you stay or will you go?
