October 3, 1950 to January 19, 2024
With his longtime family caregiver Pam by his side, Vern passed away peacefully at Rideaucrest Home.
Vern was predeceased by both his parents. He is survived by his brother Brian, 2 nieces and his brother Kevin.
Vern was involved with Kingston Community Living for many years and he was given much support and companionship throughout those years.
It was during this time that he was given a second chance at having a family.
Pam and Dave, along with their two daughters, Sara and Courtney, opened up their home and their hearts for Vern. For 25 years, he was given the love, care and security he needed. He was also shown love, acceptance and care from Shirley (predeceased) and Richard, Douglas (predeceased) and Donalda (predeceased) for many of those years.
Vern had truly become part of this family and remained so until it became time to go to Rideaucrest Home.
Although Vern had many challenges, he had a great sense of humour and could always make you laugh. He loved camping, going on the pontoon boat, watching tv and his all-time favourite: Tim Hortons coffee.
Sincere thanks to Kingston Community Living for the many years of support shown to Vern.
To Steve and family for taking Vern to Pilot House every Wednesday for fish and chips.
To Rideaucrest Home and their caring nursing staff for the continued care and compassion he needed for the last 4 years.
To anyone else who showed Vern love and thoughtfulness during his lifetime, it was much appreciated.
Donations can be made to Kingston Community Living in memory of Vern.
A Celebration of Vern’s Life will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm at the James Reid Funeral Home Reception and Celebration Centre. Please enter through the doors at the back of the building.
