Remembering Clifford Funder

Following a brief illness, Clifford Funder passed peacefully at the Brockville General Hospital on December 24th in his 89th year. Cliff leaves behind a legacy of love in his beloved wife, Shirley, of 65 years; his children, Cheryl (Colin Mandin), Robert (Jacqueline); and grandchildren Jack, Jayna, Marshall, and Norah.

Cliff loved sailing and was a long-time member of the Brockville Yacht Club. He played hockey and football in his youth and later, coached local junior hockey.

Cliff became a pilot while working at Norman Rogers Airport. He completed his apprenticeship as an Industrial Mechanic, worked at ALCAN, and later moved to Brockville to work at GTE Automatic Electric as a millwright. He remained with the company as it changed ownership, became a project coordinator, and retired after 40 years of service.

An artist and fan of all things electronic, Cliff was always curious and loved learning. There were few things he couldn’t repair or create, and few problems he couldn’t solve. He cherished his friendships and had great wit and a smile for everyone he knew. He will be deeply missed.

Cremation has taken place and service arrangements will be made at a later date. Donations may be made to the Palliative Care Program at Brockville General Hospital, or a charity of your choice.
