Obituary for the late Charles Mulvenna

Mulvenna, Charles Alphonsus “Charlie” – Passed away unexpectedly after a brief stay in Kingston Health Sciences Centre, surrounded by loving family on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at the age of 80.
Charlie was born near Feystown, Northern Ireland on May 19, 1943, to Patrick and Jane Mulvenna. He was the second of eight children. Charlie emigrated to Canada with his first wife Betty and their two children Michael and Elizabeth in 1970 to begin working at Queen’s University as a Professor of Mechanical Engineering. He ended up retiring from Queen’s in 2000.
Charlie was widowed by his first wife Betty in 1987. In 1995 Charlie was lucky enough to meet another love, Bernadette Brown. They were married in 2004.
Through the years Charlie welcomed 9 grandchildren: Jacob, Emma, Mary, Anna, James, Sarah, Mark, Cole, and Emma. They were very special to him, and he enjoyed spending time with them. He was extremely proud of them.
Charlie is survived by his wife Bernadette (nee Brown), children; Michael (Tracy) and Elizabeth (Don), 9 grandchildren, and 5 siblings and many nieces and nephews.
The family will be accepting visitors at James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd, on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, from 12:00 – 12:50 pm followed by a Liturgy of the Word in the Chapel at 1:00 pm. Charlie was a true Patriarch to the Mulvenna Family. He will be missed terribly by everyone that loved him. Memorial Donations can be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society of Kingston by cheque only.
