Obituary for Bill Hodgson

Hodgson; William Herbert “Bill”

February 17, 1940 – September 18, 2023

Bill peacefully went to sleep at 4:00 am on Monday, September 18th, 2023 after a 3-month battle with brain cancer. He leaves behind his loving wife of 61 years; Fiona (nee Weir) and his son Derek and daughter-in-law Jill. Bill loved his two grandchildren Julia (Ben) and Murray (Brooke) and they will miss him tremendously. He absolutely adored his great-grandchildren, Addison, Hudson, and Leighton. Papa was there to cheer on and support them in all they did. Bill leaves behind his brother, Dennis (Bonny) and sister, Barbara (Bob), and many nieces and nephews.  Bill leaves behind so many friends who he cherished. Bill is now reunited with his parents, Herb and Phyllis Hodgson and his dear daughter Wendy Catherine.

When Bill did something, he was committed and gave his all in everything he ever did and would be the first one there if anyone needed a hand. Bill was proud to be one of the first six inductees to the Canadian Boating Federation Hall of Fame in 1990. He served as Commodore and was on the Race Commission and Board of Directors. Bill was a dedicated employee and was Plant Manager of Acrow Richmond in Etobicoke, Ontario for over forty years. Once retired Bill enjoyed his other passion of sailing. He and Fiona sailed off to the Bahamas for a year or so before returning and going back to working at various jobs just to keep busy. Bill never stopped.
