In Memory of Barbara Sinclair

Peacefully passed away on December 22, 2023 in Amherstview, Ontario. Predeceased by her parents Alfred and Kathleen (nee Rowan) Stanley, sisters Joan Dickinson (Alan), twin Betty O’Brien (Bill). Beloved mother of Heather, Judy Pawling (John) and Ian Sinclair (Lorene) and grandmother to Sabrina, Stuart, Fiona, and Brianna. Aunt to Diane, Lyn, Carol, late David, late Sue (Mark), and late Donald. Great-aunt of Michael (Anne-Marie), Kari, Jaclyn and Gavin.  Predeceased by former husband David M. Sinclair.  Aunt and great-aunt of many in the Sinclair clan.

Born in Forest Hill (Toronto) on June 30, 1931. A graduate of Havergal College, and McGill University (B.A., and B. Comm.), Barb lived in Peterborough, Toronto, Brockville, and Kingston working as a bookkeeper after raising her children.  Barb was a decades-long member of University Women’s Club, including acting as Treasurer of the Scholarship Fund, and spent over 12 years as a volunteer at the Seniors Association working on finances, Membership Database and proofreading for their monthly member’s magazine. In 2009, Barb was honored with the Senior of the Year Award in recognition of outstanding and ongoing contributions to the Seniors Association of Kingston Region. Motto – “I won’t get your speaker or your tea but I’ll do your books”.  Barb curled at Cataraqui Curling Club for many years.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Bayshore Transitional Care, Amherstview for their exceptional care of Barb for the last 2 years.

Memorial Reception at James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd on January 7, 2024, from 1:00 – 3:00 pm with words of remembrance at 1:30 pm. Please enter through the rear doors. Inurnment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto in 2024.

Memorial Donations can be made to the Seniors Association, the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation, or the Parkinson Society of Canada.
