YMCA West Pool closes, will not reopen before facility closes
The pool at the YMCA West on Progress Avenue has been closed and will not re-open before the facility closes on Friday, Aug. 16, 2019.
The pool has been closed due to an unexpected mechanical failure involving the pool’s heating system. The temperature of pool dropped to a very uncomfortably cool level. Along with the amount of time and cost to repair the pool, the pool will remain closed.
“Anyone taking swimming lessons at Y West may move over to the Wright Crescent location. My team and I will be reaching out to each family to make these arrangements or they may call us,” said Ben Proulx, supervisor of aquatics for YMCA of Kingston.
Aquatics staff are rescheduling AquaFit classes at Wright Cres to accomendate YMCA West. If you are a member of YMCA West and would like more information about swimming lessons, please contact the Aquatic Department at 613-546-2647 x 502.
YMCA of Kingston announced that they were closing their west end location on Monday, Jun. 3, 2019.
