Yarker driver facing charges after striking hydro pole in Stone Mills

A local driver is facing charges after leaving the road and striking a hydro pole in Stone Mills Township yesterday.
Just after 11 p.m. on Monday, Jun. 12, 2023, officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a vehicle that had just driven off the road and struck a hydro pole on Curl Road in Stone Mills Township.
According to a release from the OPP, officers located the lone driver of the vehicle at a nearby residence uninjured. The OPP said that the driver of the vehicle was showing signs of impairment and an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.
As a result of an investigation, L&A County OPP has charged Trevor Babcock, age 26, of Yarker, ON, with:
- Operating a motor vehicle while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit
- Operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol and drugs
Babcock was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee in July 2023. Their licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
