Women’s curling team gets OUA silver, three other Gaels teams getting ready for playoffs

After five busy days of competition in Guelph, the Queen’s women’s curling team earned a sliver OUA medal and a spot in the U SPORTS national championships. Up against the McMaster Marauders for the OUA Championship, the team fell in a close 7-5 decision to finish with silver. The women will now get ready for the U SPORTS Curling Championships, which will take place March 11-15 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.

The women’s curling team weren’t the only Gaels team celebrating over the weekend of Friday, Feb. 14 to Sunday, Feb. 16, 2020. The women’s hockey team clinched a playoff spot after a 1-0 shutout over the Windsor Lancers, and both the men’s and women’s volleyball teams were victorious over the Guelph Gryphons on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020. And both the men’s and women’s basketball teams are gearing up for OUA playoff games on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020.

WOMEN’S CURLING – Gaels claim OUA Women’s Curling Silver, U SPORTS national championship spot GUELPH, Ont. –  Once five gruelling days of competition concluded, and the final rock came to rest, the Queen’s Gaels women’s team were able to earn a spot at the U SPORTS national championship with an OUA silver medal performance.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY – Gaels clinch playoff spot with 1-0 shutout over Windsor WINDSOR, Ont. (February 15, 2020) – The Queen’s Gaels defeated the Windsor Lancers 1-0 on Saturday evening to officially clinch a spot in the OUA playoffs.

MEN’S BASKETBALL – Gaels fall to Lakehead, turn sights to home playoff game Wednesday vs Laurier THUNDER BAY, Ont. (February 15, 2020) – The Queen’s Men’s Basketball team (14-8) fell to the No.8 nationally-ranked Lakehead Thunderwolves (17-5) with a score of 114-76 on Saturday night.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL – Gaels finish season 15-7, will host OUA playoff game Wednesday
THUNDER BAY, Ont. (February 15, 2020) – The Queen’s Women’s Basketball team (15-7) defeated the Lakehead Thunderwolves (8-14) with a score of 81-64 on Saturday night.

MEN’S HOCKEY – Gaels season comes to an end after 4-3 loss to UQTR Saturday night Trois-Riveres, Que. (February 15th, 2019) – The Queen’s Gaels (0-2) season comes to an end after the UQTR Patriotes (19-6-1-2) came back from a 3-0 deficit to defeat the Gaels 4-3.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL – Gaels split final home weekend KINGSTON, Ont. (February 15, 2020) – The Queen’s Gaels (11-7) finished off their home weekend against the Guelph Gryphons (11-7) falling in a clean set 3-0 victory for Guelph.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL – No.7 Gaels drop Guelph in straight sets 3-0 KINGSTON, Ont. (February 15, 2020) – The No.7 Queen’s Gaels (12-4) finished off their home court weekend in a victory against the Guelph Gryphons (10-5) in straight sets 3-0.
