In late June, a woman was sexually assaulted by a male acquaintance after a night out with her friend, Kingston Police Say.
At approximately 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jun. 27, 2018, the victim was at a bar in downtown Kingston with a friend when she was approached by the accused, with whom she was familiar. The victim and the accused male eventually ended up at his residence, despite her request to be taken home, according to a press release from Kingston Police.
Sometime in the morning the following day, the victim was sexually assaulted by the accused before she left in a cab. The incident was reported to the police, and the Kingston Police Sexual Assault Unit began an investigation.
As a result of the investigation, Kingston Police located the accused at his residence at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Jul. 23. He was taken to Kingston Police headquarters and held to attend a bail hearing the following day.
The 26-year-old Kingston man has been charged with sexual assault.
