Woman assaults waitress at west end Denny’s; spits on officer during arrest

A 21-year-old woman from Amherstview was arrested and is now facing four charges after punching a waitress at Denny’s on Gardiners Road and then resisting arrest.
The accused woman was in the west end restaurant on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018, and had allegedly been drinking when she punched a staff member in the face and then left. Kingston Police were called to the scene at approximately 2:15 a.m., and the responding officer found the accused walking in the westbound lanes of traffic on Taylor Kidd Boulevard. In order to protect the accused from being stuck by a vehicle, the officer positioned his cruiser to block traffic, and then moved in to arrest her. The accused began acting erratically while attempting to resist arrest. The officer acted quickly and brought the accused to the ground, as he was concerned for their safety while in the busy roadway. While moving the accused off the street and arresting her, the accused spat in the officer’s face twice.
The accused female was charged with assault, assault with the intent to resist arrest, assaulting a police officer, and breach of recognizance.
