Woman arrested for impaired driving assaults two Kingston police officers

A local woman is facing multiple charges after she became combative with Kingston Police officers who pulled her over for erratic driving.
At approximately 12:08 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 19, 2020, the female driver was pulled over on Highway 401 at the Gardiners Road (Highway 38) off ramp. The driver was treating the off ramp as an on ramp, and driving the wrong way on the roadway, attempting to access Highway 401.

After the woman was pulled over, officers on scene made observations she was impaired by alcohol. Upon being arrested, the woman assaulted two Kingston Police officers. After the woman provided breath samples, police found the woman to have nearly three times the legal limit of alcohol in her system, according to Kingston Police.
As a result of the incidents, the woman was charged with impaired operation of a conveyance (vehicle), assault with the intent to resist arrest, and assaulting a peace officer. Her driver’s licence was automatically suspended for seven days, and she will face a one-year suspension if convicted. Additionally, the driver’s vehicle was towed and impounded. The accused driver will be responsible for all related fees and fines.
