Winter street parking ban in effect in Kingston

UPDATE (Monday, Dec. 12, 2022):

Yesterday, the City of Kingston implemented a ban on overnight on-street parking due to a snowy weather forecast. While that weather system has come and gone, the city is still cleaning up from the snowfall, and is continuing the overnight on-street parking ban tonight as well.

“We recognize that there is no snow forecasted for this evening, however, keeping this ban in place will allow crews to clear streets that they were unable to navigate last night, due to vehicles being parked in the street,” said Karen Santucci, Director of Public Works. “We ask everyone to please find off-street parking options overnight so we can ensure all roads in the City are clear and safely passable for all community members and emergency vehicles.”

The City reminds residents that vehicles in contravention of this ban may be subject to fines or have their vehicles towed. Timing and more details are in the original coverage below:

The City of Kingston has implemented a ban on overnight on-street parking tonight due to the forecasted snowy weather. 

“While the ban is in place parking on all City streets is prohibited between the hours of 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. and from 12 a.m. to 7 a.m. on the streets that surround Kingston General Hospital,” the City said in a release regarding the ban.

According to the City, the ban will remain in place until the City deems it no longer necessary. “When the ban is revoked, notice will be posted on our website and social media,” the City said.
