Winter parking restrictions return to Kingston streets on December 1

Starting Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021, the overnight Winter Parking Bylaw will again be enforced in the City of Kingston. The bylaw ensures that vehicles are kept off streets so that snowplows can effectively respond to winter weather events.
Parking is prohibited on all city streets from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m., and from 12 a.m. to 7 a.m. on the streets that surround Kingston General Hospital.
“By keeping vehicles off the roads overnight our crews are able to clear snow and ice more quickly, safely and efficiently,” said Karen Santucci, Director, Public Works and Solid Waste Services. “Keeping our transportation network – including roads, sidewalks – safe and accessible throughout the winter is a key priority for the City.”
Vehicle-owners who violate the bylaw will receive a fine of up to $30 and may have their vehicle towed according to a release from the City.
The overnight Winter Parking Bylaw remains in effect until the end of March 2022. Read more about parking violations on the City of Kingston’s website.
