Winter parking restrictions begin in Kingston

Starting Sunday, Dec. 1, parking is prohibited on all Kingston streets from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. – and from 12 a.m. to 7 a.m. on the streets that surround Kingston General Hospital. The overnight Winter Parking Bylaw ensures that vehicles are kept off streets so that snowplows can effectively respond to winter weather events, says the City.
“This bylaw is in place to help with winter maintenance. We are able to plow roads much more effectively during the overnight hours when there are no cars parked on streets,” says Bill Linnen, Director, Public Works Services. “Many streets are narrow and challenging to plow, and illegally parked cars can limit our snow removal efforts.”
Vehicle owners who disobey the bylaw may receive a fine of up to $30 and vehicles found in contravention of the bylaw are subject to a tow.
The overnight Winter Parking Bylaw remains in effect until the end of March, 2020.
Thankyou to all our snowblower drivers. People all want to complain but you do an amazing job. Ignore people’s negativity and take pride in getting us all out safe. Keep up your good work to keep our roads as clear as you can given the adverse storm conditions
