Winning weekend for Queen’s Gaels

The Thanksgiving long weekend saw a number of Queen’s Gaels teams secure victories, including the Women’s Rugby Team, who trampled the Brock Badgers 74-3 on Friday, Oct. 11, 2019. If you’ve been following the Queen’s rugby and soccer teams, you know all four teams have had incredible seasons thus far — and the Thanksgiving weekend was a strong continuation of that.

The Women’s Rugby Team took on the Brock Badgers at Nixon Field on Friday, Oct. 11, 2019, furthering their dominance in the league with a 74-3 win. This victory means the Gaels will host the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) championship on Friday, Oct. 18, 2019, and secured their spot to return to the U SPORT national championship in Ottawa.

On top of that, the Men’s Rugby, Men’s Soccer, Women’s Soccer, and Men’s Hockey Teams were all victorious over the weekend, and the Women’s Cross Country and Men’s Cross Country Teams secured first and second place standings respectively. WOMEN’S RUGBY – No.3 Gaels to host OUA Championship next Friday night with semifinal win, qualify for U SPORTS championship in Ottawa
KINGSTON, Ont. (October 11, 2019) – The No.3 Queen’s Gaels took down the Brock Badgers 74-3 on Friday night under the lights at Nixon Field. With the win, the Gaels will host the OUA Championship next Friday night at 7 pm on homecoming weekend. The Gaels also booked their ticket back to the U SPORTS national championship.

MEN’S RUGBY – Young has 10 points in win over RMC as Gaels stretch OUA streak to 25 straight victories
KINGSTON, Ont. (October 11, 2019) – The Queen’s Gaels (5-0) used a 26-point opening half to defeat the RMC Paladins (1-4) 47-0 on Friday evening at Nixon Field.

FOOTBALL – Gaels push No.5 Gryphons into overtime on Thursday night under the lights at Richardson
KINGSTON, Ont. (October 10, 2019) – The Queen’s Gaels (2-5) put up a stand against the No.5 Guelph Gryphons (5-2) on Thursday night under the lights at Richardson Stadium in front of 1,727 fans but Guelph was able to squeak out the victory with an overtime field goal in a 27-24 final.

WOMEN’S SOCCER – Gaels stay undefeated, defeat Paladins 5-0 on Seniors Day
KINGSTON, Ont. (October 13th, 2019) – The No.7 Queen’s Gaels (10-0-2) controlled the ball for most of the opening half and continued throughout the second shutting out the RMC Paladins (0-10-0) 5-0 Sunday afternoon.

MEN’S SOCCER – Seniors day sees Gaels win final home game of season 3-0 over RMC
KINGSTON, Ont. (October 13th, 2019) – The Queen’s Gaels (4-7-2) defeated the RMC Paladins (0-10-2) 3-0 in the Gaels last game at Richardson Stadium this season.
