Special weather statement for Kingston and area

Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for Kingston, Odessa, Frontenac Islands, Napanee, Consecon, Picton, and Sandbanks Park, with strong winds expected today.

The national weather service is expecting strong winds with gusts up to 80 km/h beginning early this afternoon and ending this evening.

“Southwesterly winds will strengthen early this afternoon with wind gusts up to 80 km/h possible, especially near Lake Ontario. Winds will begin to ease this evening,” the alert said.

Environment Canada says loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage, and that isolated power outages as a result of the strong winds are possible.
