Environment Canada has issued a weather advisory for Kingston and area on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021, as of 12:34 p.m., due to a band of very heavy snow crossing the region early in the afternoon.

Poor visibility is expected due to the forecasted rapid snowfall, which is expected to drop 3 to 5 cm within an hour today, according to the advisory. Light snow is expected to continue thereafter.

Environment Canada says travel is expected to be hazardous due to very poor visibility and rapidly accumulating snow on roadways as the band passes, and travel along Highway 401 is expected to be hazardous.

Earlier this month OPP released a statement reminding motorists to drive safely during winter weather conditions. They included tips to help everyone arrive at their destination safely.
