Waterfront concerts return to Gananoque

Gananoque is getting its groove on as the 2021 Waterfront Concert series returns to town.

“Enjoy some great music at the beautiful heritage park in Gananoque,” said Cliff Edwards, co-prouder of the Waterfront Concert series.

Sponsored by the Town of Gananoque, the free concert series will run on Fridays and Saturdays for eight weeks, until Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021, like it has in previous years. And the waterfront concerts will be ready to rock this year as COVID-19 restrictions ease up.

“We are prepared for 200 to 300 people,” said Edwards.

With the large space at Joel Stone Park, the concert can host up to 75 per cent capacity, as per Step 3 of Ontario’s roadmap for reopening regulations. COVID-19 protocols will be in place during the concerts. People must practise social distancing, said Edwards. Attendees are also asked to bring masks and stay with their families.

Every Friday and Saturday, bands from around the region will perform at the park.

“We like to take care of our own area musicians,” said Edwards.

Many of them are from the Thousand Islands region, or from Brockville, Gananoque and Kingston and to the Belleville area, added Edwards.

The concerts will run rain or shine, unless the weather is too inclement and the bands are unable to perform.

The weekend, beginning this evening, Friday, Aug. 6, 2021, performers include, Lost Channel Band with guest Jeff Montgomery on Friday, with Georgette Up Close and guest John Wilberforce on Saturday.

Trevor Walsh Group and guest Wayne Huff, and The Stares with guest Colin Slack will perform on Friday, Aug. 13 and Saturday, Aug. 14.
