Water main break closes section of King Street

A water main break has led to flooding on King Street in downtown Kingston on Friday, Sept. 6, 2019.

The flooding began just after 12 p.m., and Utilities Kingston confirmed that the cause of the flooding was due to a water main break. Both Kingston Fire and Rescue and Utilities Kingston crews responded to the area, and King Street was closed from West Street to Lower Union Street. The water main break resulted in no water supply to residences and businesses in the area.

“Crews are responding to a water main break in the area, and customers can expect water services to be restored by 10 p.m.,” Utilities Kingston said. The roadway is expected to remain closed until approximately midnight.
