MacDonald had been wanted by police since a domestic argument led to his brutal attack of his partner on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021. On that date, MacDonald is alleged to have attempted to enter the home of the victim, his girlfriend, and later gained entry. Once inside, a verbal fight turned violent, with MacDonald punching the victim in the head repeatedly before slashing her with a knife. The victim sustained numerous facial injuries and lacerations to her body as a result of the attack and was later transported to Kingston General Hospital for treatment.

After months of searching for MacDonald, Kingston Police once again issued a press release on Friday, Dec. 17, 2021, requesting public assistance to locate the wanted man, who is also known to have ties to the Lindsay, Trenton, and Perth areas. At the time, police said MacDonald was wanted on several domestic charges, including assault, possession of a weapon, uttering threats, and theft.

On Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022, Kingston Police confirmed MacDonald has been arrested. Both police and a source with knowledge of the case (who will remain anonymous) relayed that the arrest happened exactly one year after the domestic assault: Sunday, Sept. 4, 2022.

In response to inquiries from Kingstonist, Constable Anthony Colangeli, acting Media Relations Officer for Kingston Police, said that MacDonald “was arrested outside of Kingston.” He was then transported to Kingston, where he was held for a bail hearing. According to Colangeli, MacDonald currently remains in custody.

This is a developing story. Kingstonist will provide updates if/when more information becomes available.
