Wanted: Federal offender known to frequent areas of eastern Ontario

The Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad has released the above photo and is asking for public assistance in locating the man pictured, who is wanted on a Canada Wide Warrant as a result of his breaching conditions of his statutory release from custody.
According to the ROPE Squad and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Steven Mavis, 60, is currently serving a five-year and one-month sentence for three counts of possession of Schedule 1/2 substances for the purpose of trafficking, as well as two counts of operating a motor vehicle while disqualified.
Mavis is described as being an Indigenous male standing 5’10” (178 cm) and weighing 200 lbs (91 kg), with brown hair, and brown eyes. According to police, he has a number of tattoos, including:
- A symbol on the left side of his neck
- The word “TAT” on his upper left arm
- The words “OLD SCHOOL” with a cross on his left forearm
- A crown on his left ring finger
- A horned ghoul on his upper right arm
- A snake on his right forearm
- A witch on his right wrist
The offender is known to frequent the Ottawa, Toronto, Sudbury, and North Bay areas, the OPP said in a press release on Tuesday, Apr. 4, 2023.
