Walk for Alzheimer’s moving online

The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s is moving online. The national event will be streamed on Sunday, May, 31 2020 at 12 pm EST. It will connect Canadians and Alzheimer Societies from across the country.
The annual walk is the Alzheimer Society’s biggest fundraising event of the year. In 2019, 37,000 participants raised over $6.2 million to provide services to Canadians with dementia.
“While we can’t walk together on May 31, we can still show our support for over 4,000 people in KFLA who are currently living with a dementia diagnosis,” said Vicki Poffley, the Executive Director of the Alzheimer Society for KFLA. “During this time of isolation our clients need our support now more than ever. We are thrilled that the IG Wealth Management walk for Alzheimer’s is moving online.”
To help out and join the walk KFLA residents in Kingston can register here and for Lennox and Addington, residents can register here.
Individuals can sign up themselves or register as a team. Participants can walk in their neighbourhood, on local trails, do an online yoga class or even a bake off. As well as if they aren’t able to participate on Sunday, May 31, the site is open from now until Monday, Jun. 8, 2020.
“We’re calling on all Canadians to show their support by walking online,” said Stephen McCullough, CEO, Alzheimer Society of Canada in a press release. “It’s critical that we all get behind this cause and raise as much as possible so the Alzheimer Society can continue to help those affected overcome the challenges of dementia and live life to their fullest.”
