#ygkChallenge: Vote!
The #ygkChallenge is an ongoing series where we dare you to be different, resolve to be better, and or do something awesome in support of our beloved community. Each week, Kingstonist establishes a new, ambitious or quirky goal, encouraging you to step out of your comfort zone and do something great, and hopefully a little out of the ordinary. By taking part in this community-wide initiative, we hope to make Kingston (and the world) a slightly better place to live, work and play.
This week’s #ygkChallenge encourages you to:
Vote! On October 20th, Canadians will wake up to new political representatives, and quite possibly, to a new Prime Minister and governing party. Whether you choose to vote in an advance poll, by mail in your home riding, or wait to vote on October 19th (like me), the point is that you did in fact vote. What is equally important, is that you encouraged your friends and family to rock the vote as well. Specifically, let’s lead by example and help cheer on those who are prone to sitting on the sidelines because they believe that “their vote doesn’t really matter”. Every vote counts, and every vote matters. Get informed by: reading our candidate interviews (Green, Liberal, NDP, Conservative (did not participate)); navigating the vote compass; and if you’re so inclined, reading up on strategic voting in Kingston or wherever you call home. Find out where your polling station is and vote on October 19th!
Join us in completing this week’s #ygkchallenge by liking it on Facebook and/or re-Tweeting it on Twitter. By liking and sharing, you’re not only committing to doing something great, but you’re also helping us spread the word and hopefully encouraging others to participate.
