Volunteers needed for City of Kingston committee, board

The City of Kingston is looking for new members to serve on a committee and a board, who will bring knowledge and lived experience to the table.
According to a release from the City, from May 30 to June 10, eligible residents are encouraged to submit applications to serve on the Election Compliance Audit Committee and Kingston Frontenac Public Library Board. Specific mandates for each committee can be found at CityofKingston.ca/Committees.
“Serving on a committee or board is a great opportunity for residents to give back to the community,” said Derek Ochej, Acting Deputy City Clerk. “City boards and committees also benefit from the valuable expertise and diverse backgrounds of community members.”
The City provided the following details for interested individuals:
To serve on most committees or boards, an applicant must be:
- 18 years of age or older;
- A resident/business owner in the City of Kingston,
and one of the following:
- Canadian Citizen, or
- Permanent Resident, a person who has been given permanent resident status by immigrating to Canada but is not a Canadian citizen and has resided in Kingston for at least one year.
Residents can apply:
- Online at www.CityofKingston.ca/Committees.
- By calling 613-546-0000 to request a paper application. The City will provide a postage-paid envelope to return the application to City Hall.
- In person at City Hall, 216 Ontario St. in the City Clerk’s department.
Applications close at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2022.
