Verona man charged with impaired driving

An impaired driver was stopped by an officer conducting speed enforcement on Road 38 near Quinn Road in South Frontenac Township.

Shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021, a Frontenac Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped the speeding vehicle, according to a report from OPP dated Monday, Mar. 1, 2021. 

OPP say, as a result of the investigation, Ian Thomas, a 41 year old from Verona Ontario, was charged with impaired driving and having over 80 milligrams of alcohol in the blood while operating a motor vehicle.

The accused’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the motor vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. Thomas was released on a promise to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston at a later date. He will be responsible for all related fees and fines.
