Vehicles are back on the Gan Chev lot after two-year shortage

This time last year, Gan Chev, and car dealerships in general, were experiencing empty lots and pandemic-related inventory shortages.
“Our lot has been low in inventory for about two years now,” stated Mike Kellam, Operations Manager at Gan Chev. “It has been a mix of shipping delays because of staffing shortages due to COVID, and due to the microchip shortage that impacted all vehicle manufacturers. This created a bottleneck of product.”
However, over the last month, the dealership has seen a rapid influx of vehicles and has increased their inventory from 20 new vehicles to over 130, so there’s plenty to browse on the lot.
“There were so many things that came into play to create low inventory for us, but now the vehicles that were ordered over the last three to six months are being built without chip-related delays and are being shipped in a timely manner,” Kellam continued. “We have these new builds arriving on the lot, as well as vehicles that were built during the pandemic that now have chips installed.”
According to Gan Chev, sales are returning to normal levels. Not only do they have sold orders arriving at the lot, they now also have inventory on the ground for customers who are shopping for a new vehicle.

“This is a good time to buy if you aren’t sure what you want in a vehicle and you want to be able to test drive and look at multiple options,” Kellam shared.
“During the last two years when people were car shopping, they had to make choices based on what was on the lot, or buy a vehicle sight unseen and wait for it to be built and arrive. This made many people anxious, since it is such a large purchase. Now, we have many options on the lot for people to look at it, test drive, and then make a decision.”
Gan Chev always offers trade-in options, which can help finance a new car purchase. They suggest current owners be honest and upfront, sharing any dents, accidents, or other items that may affect the appraisal. Mentioning these right away will help the dealership provide a correct and quick appraisal process, and get buyers to their new cars faster.
Dale Sheppard, Marketing Manager at the dealership, said that the Gan Chev team is always happy to answer any questions about financing, stock, or the vehicles themselves, and they offer some contactless options during the purchasing process.
”We can bring paperwork to you and deliver your vehicle to your home or work after purchase,” she said. “This was a service that we offered even before the pandemic and have continued to do so for a real ‘Shop at Home’ experience.”
Stop by the Gan Chev dealership at 439 King Street East, Gananoque, and take a spin around the lot. There are plenty of new cars to choose from, and test drive!
Shoppers can also browse their inventory, book test drives, and learn more about the dealership on the Gan Chev website.
