Vehicle fire prompts evacuation of ambulance communications centre

A vehicle fire in the underground parking lot at the City Place 2 building resulted in the evacuation of the entire building, Kingston Central Ambulance Communications Centre.

The fire broke out at approximately 9:10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020. Kingston Fire and Rescue responded to the incident at the building, which is located at the corner of Sir John A Macdonald Blvd and John Counter Boulevard.

Frontenac Paramedics helped in the rapid evacuation of our communications center (Kingston Central Ambulance Communications Centre/CACC) due to a fire in their building,” Frontenac Paramedic Services said in a post on Twitter. “Continue to call 911 if you require assistance. Your calls will still be received as normal.”

No injuries have been reported at this time. Please avoid the area for the next hour or so as crews continue emergency response work at the building.
