Two men facing charges after attempted drone drop at Collins Bay Institution

Two males from out of province are facing charges after a police surveillance team located them launching a drone with a package attached in the area of Collins Bay Institution.
On Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021, members of the Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad and the Kingston Police Drug Enforcement Unit combined efforts to investigate the two males, according to a release from Kingston Police.
Kingston Police said that the males were located by a police surveillance team in the area of the institution as they were launching the drone. Members of the Kingston Police Emergency Response Unit as well as the K9 Unit assisted with the arrest of two males.
According to the release, the drone was recovered by police with the package attached. The package did not make it into the institution, police said. It contained 19 individually wrapped packages of cannabis and four bails of tobacco. The institutional value of the seizure is estimated at $73,000. One male from Quebec and one male from Alberta were charged with the following offences.
Kingston Police have laid the following charges:
Stacy De-Santis 25 years from Quebec.
- Possession of cannabis for distribution
- Possession of proceeds of crime under $5000.00
- Conspiracy to commit mischief
Mario Grosso 36 years from Alberta.
- Possession of cannabis for distribution
- Possession of proceeds of crime under $5000.00
