Two men arrested after fight involving sword wielding and punching out car window
Two local men have been arrested following a fight in the King’s Town district that prompted area residents to contact police.
At approximately 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Jul. 18, 2018, a 26-year old male went to an address on Cherry Street to retrieve property from a 30-year-old male. The 30-year-old was sitting in his vehicle with another man, whom the 26-year-old began arguing with. As the fight escalated into a physical altercation, the 30-year-old produced a sword. The 26-year-old responded by punching out a window on the passenger’s side of the car.
Witnesses called police to report the fight, and, when police arrived, only the 26-year-old was present, and he was bleeding from an injury to his hand. While he was speaking with the officers, the 30-year-old returned and began yelling at the 26-year-old in front of the police.
Both men were arrested and taken to Kingston Police Headquarters, and the sword was retrieved from where it was hidden by the 30-year-old.
The 26-year-old man was charged with mischief, and the 30-year-old man was charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace.
