Two Kingston men are facing a series of charges after they confronted a male victim who was entering his home, threatened him, and then stabbed him when a struggle ensued.

According to Kingston Police, the incident occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 2020. At that time, both of the accused men were “loitering outside of an apartment building in downtown Kingston,” police said in a press release on Tuesday, May 12, 2020. The apartment building in question is located at 381 Bagot Street.

The male victim attempted to pass the two men to enter the front door of the building, however, one of the men stopped him and asked him if he wanted to buy a knife. The victim indicated he was not interested in purchasing the knife, and then entered the building, followed by the two men. One of the men approached the victim again, this time asking him for a cigarette. The victim offered a cigarette to each of the accused men, and then attempted to leave. At that time, one of the men stopped the victim and demanded that he hand over a tablet device he had been holding.

The same man then brandished a knife, first holding it against the victim’s stomach, and then against his throat. The man demanded that the victim hand over the knapsack and tablet he was carrying. A struggle ensued between that man and the victim, and the victim was stabbed in the shoulder with the knife.

The victim managed to kick the aggressor, affording him enough time to flee from the building. The two accused men gave chase, but the victim was able to get away.

The victim located and approached police who were in the area. When police discovered that he had been stabbed, the victim was transported by Frontenac Paramedics to Kingston General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

At approximately 12:10 p.m., Kingston Police located and arrested one of the two accused men in downtown Kingston. At approximately 3 p.m., police located and arrested the other accused man, the one who’d acted as the aggressor during the attack.

As a result, a 22-year-old local man was charged with:

  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace

The other accused man, a 27-year-old local man, was charged with:
