Two Kingston organizations affected by continent-wide email threats

Kingston Police say that two local organizations were included in a continent-wide email threat, and that the threat was ultimately deemed to be unsubstantiated.

On December 13, 2018 at approximately 1:30 p.m. Kingston Police responded to email bomb threats at two local organizations, one on Queen St and the other on Safari Dr. Kingston Police say the threats were similar in nature to bomb threats reported in several other Canadian and US cities, demanding $20,000 in Bitcoin.

The areas surrounding both locations were blocked off as a precaution as police investigated. Kingston Police seemed the threats to be unsubstantiated and no actual danger was found at either location. Kingston Police continue to investigate, in collaboration with police services from other affected jurisdictions.
