Two individuals from Inverary facing drug trafficking charges

Two individuals are now facing multiple charges after the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in conjunction with OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) and Tyendinaga Police Service, executed a search warrant over a week ago.

In January 2023, officers with L&A County, Frontenac, and Picton CSCU began an investigation into suspected drug trafficking, according to a release from the OPP.

As a result of the investigation, on Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, L&A County CSCU alongside the OPP TRU and Tyendinaga Police Service, executed the warrant at an address on Lower Slash Road in Tyendinaga First Nation. Nearly 30 grams of suspected methamphetamine and nearly 30 grams of suspected cocaine were seized, as well as drug paraphernalia and a quantity of cash, OPP said.

Joshua Brant, 44 years old, of Tyendinaga First Nation, and Shannon Hartman, 38 years old, of Inverary, were arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The OPP noted that both parties were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville at a later date.
